Why keep carts on the cart paths and off the green slopes?
After observing many of the members over the last few months I have come to the conclusion that most do not know why we ask members to keep carts away from the greens. So hopefully, by explaining this we can get most of you to help us out with this.
Weeds! that is the main reason! Weeds move around by the tires from the carts and your shoes and thrive in compacted areas. Did you ever wonder why there are weeds right along the cart path? When you put your cart wheels one foot off the path, compaction along with weed seeds is why. They are on your shoes and cart wheels, which is another reason not to drive on green slopes. If they are on your shoes and you park 12 feet from the greens, they have a better chance of getting on the greens than if you walk from the cart path to the greens (those extra steps can work the seeds on to the slope, which is much easier to get rid of than it is on our greens). If your health dictates you to drive closer to the greens, we understand and want you to enjoy your round, but the rest of you, please enjoy the extra exercise.
We are trying our best to keep the weed population down, but unfortunately, it is a long process. They did not get here overnight, so they won’t leave overnight either. But with your help, we can speed up the process! Please join us in our fight against compaction and weeds.
Looking forward to a great first season at Majestic for me and I hope all of you enjoy the improvements to the course.
